The Challenge

Training on points and signal systems on railways is of vital importance ensuring the safety and reliability of train travel. Our client came to us with a Virtual Reality Training application that had been previously developed by university students that needed some additional work. There were some issues and edits required in order to make it a functional tool for them to use in their training sessions, along with an additional train sequence which would confirm the responsiveness of the track to the signaller.

The solution

We reworked and optimised the code within the project to allow it to work seamlessly, along with improving the realism of the visuals in game, and of the user interface. We worked closely with the client to understand their requirements and technical terminology used within the rail industry, to make sure the training was clear and as true to life as possible. This project is an example of simulating real-life training scenarios to immerse the user in the reality and consequences of their training, without putting the person in physical danger. The sequences and procedures ensure a consistent level of training throughout the organisation, as well as lowering the costs of hiring trainers each time and paying travel expenses.
Animated Technologies really delivered the Wow! factor when it came to delivering an animation showcasing CES+ ambitions. Internal and external stakeholders have been very impressed with what has been delivered and it brings our projects to life. We can't wait to present the Augmented Reality model of our projects to external stakeholders, such as the UK government to really give them a feel of what we are trying to achieve. CES+ look forward to working with Animated Technologies on future projects.

I really enjoyed working with Animated Technologies, they are really friendly and understood the vision for what we wanted very quickly - then took it further with their own thoughts and ideas. They were a pleasure to work with.
